    Mr. MU. KALANCHIYAM, is a youthful and dynamic Director in Tamil Industry.  He started his Career as a freelance Writer and enforced the Film Industry as an Assistant to the Reputed Director Mr. Vasanth in the Super Hit Film “KELADI KANMANI”.

    After Two Films with Mr. Vasanth he has joined with the  Director C. Ranganthan in the Film “COIMBATORE MAPPILLAI” and worked as an Associate Director.

    Mr. Mu. Kalanchiyam made his debut as a Director with the Super Hit Film “POOMANI” Produced by “ANAND MOVIE LAND” Starring “MURALI, DEVAYANI, PRAKASH RAJ, MANIVANNAN” in leading Roles.

    Actually the film “POOMANI” was the Re-entry vehicle for those, then out of market like Murali, Heroine Devayani and the most talked about Re-entry of the Maestro “ILAIYARAJA”.  The Film was a Super Hit made with a Low Budget.  “POOMANI” was awarded by the TAMILNADU GOVERNMENT for Best director,Best Story writing, Best Villain, Best Action Director and the Debut Director Awards.  Director Mu. Kalanchiyam was awarded with the most sought after FILMFARE and CINEMA EXPRESS AWARDS.

    Kalanjiyam is an award winning director. He has directed many Tamil movies. He debuted with the film, 'Poomani' which released in 1996. It had Murali and the actress Devayani who were cast as lead characters for it. After the success of the first, Kalanjiyam made his second named 'Kizhakkum Merkkum' which hit the theaters in 1998. The story is about Suryamurthy and Thriller, they are siblings and their step-mother drives them out from her home.

    They help each other to face all the problems and grow up to earn a proper living. Suryamurthy tries to find a good husband for her sister. He comes across Kathalingam who is from a neighbouring village. He tries to find out about him and asks the people in his village, they review him positively and he fixes their marriage.

    Soon he finds about the villagers misleading him about Kathalingam, he is not a good guy as projected by them and is an alcoholic and also is engaged in an affair with Valli. It’s too late for him to change the scenario. Suryamurthy meets Mallika, Kath lingam’s sister with whom he falls in love with and her sister warns about Mallika but he ignores her.
