Finissage
The Polish-German border has a turbulent and complicated history, that continues to inspire artists to this day. kilometers separate Germany and Poland and Poland from the Baltic Sea and the Szczecin Lagoon across the Lusatian Neisse to the to the Czech Republic.
The exhibition focuses on the dual meaning of the term "sharing" as a separation and also as a shared possession and experience. In this respect, the border and the border regions are not only to be understood as a political and territorial dividing line. They are also a zone of exchange. The 28 participating artists are united by their specific view of border situations and a (meta-) reflection in audio, video, performance, installation, drawing and painting.
The works have the potential to question the prevailing aesthetic regimes and be the occasion for new subversive geographies and cartographies. They refer to narratives on both sides of the Polish-German border.
A cooperation project with the National Museum in Poznan.
